an archipelago of seven islands & was probably the Heptanesia that
Ptolemy wrote about. Certainly the island of Salsette, now Kalyan, was the
ancient commercial port mentioned in the chronicles of merchants from
ancient Assyria, Rome, Greece, Arabia & Iran who did business with the
coastal cities along the Arabian Sea.
