Meaning: Nine-Cornered Lake
Situated
at an altitude of 1,219 m, Naukuchiatal is picturesque lake. It has nine
corners and hence the name. 26 km away from Nainital,
Naukuchiatal attracts migratory birds, which makes it a bird
watchers paradise.
Located four kms to the north east of
Bhimtal,
Naukuchiatal is a haven for fishing enthusiasts. This is an area famous
for its orchards. It was here that Rabindranath Tagore completed his
collection of poems, Gitanjali, which won him the Nobel Prize.
Both Yachts and paddle-boats are available and this is a favourite spot
for anglers. There are facilities for para gliding as well. For obtaining
