A MODERN WATER-SPORTS' COMPLEX
Popularly known as Dhalipur Lake, Asan Barrage, created in 1967, was
developed By Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN), as a water sports complex
in 1994. 
Located at a distance of 43 kms from Dehradun-Chandigarh-Shimla
Highway, this lake was created as a result of the construction of the Asan
Barrage, at the confluence of the river
Yamuna & Asan,
through Dhalipur Power House.
Fed by river Asan and the discharge channel of
Yamuna, through Dhalipur
Power House, the lake is perenially filled with water. Offering a host of
facilities for water sports, Asan Barrage is a must-visit, for every water
sports freak. The water sports include water skating, motor boats, water
skiing, sailing, boating, rowing, kayaking, canoeing, paddler's rides, as
well as two hovercrafts and two powerboats.
The place is a wonderful destination for sports facilities and also has
catering and staying facilities. For wildlife lovers there is an added
bonus during winter months, for migratory birds can be sighted in the
vicinity. The wetland attracts a large number of tourists regularly from
Dehradun and adjoining areas.
EXCURSIONS
Dakpatthar:
14 kms. from Asan Barrage is Dakpathar, an aquatic complex with a
swimming pool, located at the foothills of Shivalik Hills and on the bank
of river Yamuna. The
tourist bungalow here is also an ideal resort in winters.
