Journey By Plane
Journey By Plane
Not much time has passed when there were only two airservice providers in
India. The Indian airlines for domestic services. It catered to some
neighbouring countries too. Then the Air India for international flights.
These two government owned sectors had monopoly over the air corridors
over India but with opening of the aviation sector to private operators
many big names joined the fray in catering to the domestic commuters.
With companies like Sahara India, Jet Airways and many other companies
offering their services more and more places got connected on the
airservices map of India. The destinations were linked but the fare of
travelling by air did not reduce instead it saw steep rise. This resulted
in commuters moving away from air travel and thinking air travelling as
last option. Thus, majority of companies are either running loss or are
giving many lucrative offers to attract passengers.
The bad conditions of airport and the outdated equipments at these places
have added to the misery of the commuters. The Aviation Ministry is trying
hard to provide better facilities but the the number of airports has
reduced the pace of improvement. Plus many accidents has gripped the air
travellers who now are looking for alternate means of transport.
