Vaigai Dam is located at a distance of 70-km from
Madurai on the way to Thekkadi.
It is a good picnic spot. The dam is beautifully illuminated on every
Sunday evening and it looks beautiful.
Man-made gardens filled with all kinds of exotic flowers and plants on
one of side of the dam; compete with the rugged natural beauty of the
hills that borders the river on the other side.
HOW TO GET THERE
Air: The nearest airport is at
Madurai (70-km).
Rail: The dam is 4 miles from Aundipatti railway station on the
Madurai Bodinayakanur railway
line.
Road: Regular buses are available from
Madurai.
WHERE TO STAY
Accommodation is available at the dam site, but tourists have to apply to the Assistant Engineer for reservation.
