The Routine Schedule
Ganesh Peth Gurdwara is one of the oldest and biggest
Gurdwaras. This Gurdwara opens early in the morning with prayers, starting
with 'Matha Tekna'- which means bowing down to Granthsaheb, then follows
the 'Japjisaheb', the Morning Prayer, 'Kirtans' and then 'Ardas'. After
the Ardas excerpts from the "Granthsaheb" are read at random.
This Gurdwara also adheres to the teaching of their first Guru, Guru
Nanakdev, that all human beings on this Earth are equal and whatever we
produce should be equally distributed among all.
Every Sunday after the morning session a community Lunch - 'Langar' is
served, where everybody, irrespective of rich or poor, sit on the floor
and eat. The Gurdwara is open to people of all religions.
The birth anniversaries of the first guru, Guru Nanakdevji and tenth
guru, Guru Gobind Singhji are celebrated as festivities with high
enthusiasm.
HOW TO GET THERE
Pune is well connected by air, rail and road with the important places within and beyond the state. From Mumbai, regular MSRTC buses and private buses ply to Pune. For local transportation auto rickshaws, city buses and taxis are available.
