The Empress garden is a beautiful botanical garden on
Sholapur highway with different varieties of
flowers and trees. This botanical garden is spread over a large area in
the heart of the Pune
cantonment, very close to the Pune racecourse.
The Empress garden has pretty lawns and well laid out benches and is a
hot picnic spot. The gardens are artificially laid out on an area of 24
hectares. There are tall majestic trees as well as innumerable varieties
of plants and flowers. There is a lotus pond in the centre of the garden,
which has the statue of Queen Victoria. The garden has a small restaurant,
which serves snacks and cool drinks.
Timings: 8:30 am and 7:00 pm.
HOW TO GET THERE
Pune is well connected by air, rail and road with the important places within and beyond the state. From Mumbai, regular MSRTC buses and private buses ply to Pune. For local transportation auto rickshaws, city buses and taxis are available.
