Dahanu, a quiet seaside town with a sprawling, uncluttered
beach, is located 145-km away from
Mumbai in
Thane district. Thane District is notable for its
vast stretch of unspoilt beach, and the coastline, stretching from Dahanu
to Bordi, is 17-km long. Brisk air that blows is a healing salve for
pollution-choked lungs. The culture existing is a blend of Irani and
Parsi, which makes this place more exotic. The unique feature of Dahanu is
the Chickoo (fruit) orchids spread over a large area.
A half-hour's drive down from Dahanu takes the tourists to the village of
Bordi where one can find an endless beach, very safe and beautiful. In
summers its quite hot though, by day the breeze blows a merry tune.

Udwada
A place called Udwada known as "the Mecca of the Zoroastrians"
is very near from Dahanu, which attracts large number of tourists. There
is a magnificent temple, which houses the sacred fire of the Zoroastrians
that is considered as the prime attraction of the region. It is believed
that this fire has been kept alive for almost a thousand years.

Air: The nearest airport is at Mumbai.
Rail: The nearest railway station is on Dahanu Road, which is
around a three hours drive from Mumbai.
Road: By road it is 145-km from Mumbai and State transport
services are available from here at regular intervals. Many private
transport operators run buses and taxis, which makes tourists visit very
convenient.
