Located at Ramakrishna Nagar about 7 kms from Mysore, Lingambudi Lake is the biggest and the oldest lake in Mysore.

The lake was built by Krishnaraja Wodeyar III in 1828 AD in memory of his wife, Lingajammanni. The lake spread over an area of 260 acres is being conserved and developed by the Forest Department.

Lingambudi Lake is known for its wide species of birds and bio-diversity, with nearly 250 species of birds visiting the lake during the season including a few endangered species like spot-billed pelican, Indian darter, pin tailed duck, shoveller and garganey.

The 'Herbal Park', a unique feature of the lake has been of much interest to the research students and scholars. At the lake, there are shelters known as the 'Pergolla', for the purpose of shade and relaxation.

Boating and other recreational activities are not allowed at the lake to maintain the quiet atmosphere for migratory birds. A side-walk at the lake provides a good opportunity to the visitor to take a walk.
