This village is situated at a distance of
53.10-km from Devarakonda and 38.62-km from the Macherla. It is situated
on the northern bank of the river Krishna and appears to belong to the
Buddhist and Andhra periods of the first century AD.
The place has considerable archaeological importance and the excavations
conducted at the site yielded many relics of the upper Palaeolithic,
Microlithic, Chalcolithic and Megalithic complexes.
Andhra Pradesh Archaeological Department is maintaining at
Hyderabad - a
museum in which the relics unearthed at Yeleshwaram are exhibited.
HOW TO GET THERE
Rail: The nearest railhead is at Macherla, in
Guntur District.
Road: Macherla is also well connected by road. Tourists can take
buses from Devarkonda.
