Jaggayyapet is an ancient place with some
historical significance. It is located just across the river Krishna, 5-km
northwest of Amaravati.
It was formerly known as Bethavolu. The existence of Buddhist relics all
over this place denotes that Buddhisim flourished here and that it was an
important religious centre.
Excavations undertaken by the Archaeological Department of the State
Government revealed that the mound contains some ancient Buddhist relics.

Road: Jaggayyapet is easily
accessible by buses from Vijayawada
and Guntur.
