Gudivada is located 45-km from
Vijayawada. Gudivada derived
its name from the existence of a number of
temples in the past. It was also
known as Vidarbhapuri as per Khandeyayani Kaikaluru Silasasanam of A.D.
1628. The place was in existence for over 2000 years and has been
flourishing perpetually from time to time of the Satavahanas.
Jain & Buddhist Remnants
Many Jain and Buddhist relics are found here. Another unique sites here
are the 99 low mounds with remains of Buddhist stupas. An elevated mound
in a cylindrical form with a semi-spherical top, which the Archaeological
Department identified as an old Buddhist Stupa and declared it as a
protected monument, can still be seen here. It is considered to be one
among the seven Buddhist Stupas in the area.
HOW TO GET THERE
Road: Regular bus service connects Gudivada with all other places
within the state.
